CUNY Policy regarding Children in the Workplace states that "employees and students are generally not permitted to bring children to the workplace or the classroom/campus.  Limited exceptions may be considered in emergency or exigent circumstances if the employee has received permission from his or her supervisor or in the case of a student, he/she has received permission from the professor of the course.  In addition, although in certain circumstances, an employee or student may bring a child for a “brief” visit with supervisor/faculty permission, employees and students may not bring children to work or class for repeated visits and/or as a substitute for making arrangements for regular childcare.

Also note that children may never be left unattended and are never allowed in labs, shops, construction/repair sites, or other areas where potential hazards exist.  Safety, confidentiality, disruption of operations and services, disruption to other employees and students, and potential liability exposures in the event of accident or injury are all factors that require strict compliance with the CUNY Policy."
